ere's a listing by month of the Top 10 albums in the United States and the United Kingdom throughout the Seventies. Chart positions used for compiling the monthly Top 10's were taken from the two best accepted sources; Billboard in America, and Music Week in Britain. A (P) identifies albums that have been certified as platinum (million) sellers in their respective countries as of Dec. 1994 ((2P) indicates two million sales, (3P) means three million, etc.). Note that the platinum award was not introduced until 1976, and that record companies must apply for these certifications.
