Comments: Who came up with the "Classic 300"? All the obvious choices are there, probably half the list, but there is so much mediocrity throughout. Dan Fogelberg? What are you thinking when you include three (three too many) Dan Fogelberg albums yet leave out "The Stooges," Velvet Underground's "Loaded," Joy Division's "Unknown Pleasures" and all three '70s Talking Heads LPs? And secondary albums by The Who, The Clash, Stones, Dylan, Led Zep and Springsteen are omitted, and these albums (including "The Who By Numbers," "Led Zeppelin III," "Presence," "Emotional Rescue," "Give 'Em Enough Rope," "Planet Waves," "Slow Train Coming" and "Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J.") are far better than a good third of your list. It just seems an arbitrary list, and despite having many very, very good albums listed, it's a bit of a waste because it lacks critical insight.

I emailed XM7 program director and his response was something like this "music is the closest thing we have to a time machine.
